“Murray from CPS Solar recently installed an off-the-grid solar electricity system for my rural home. I am very impressed with the system, it is generating more power than I originally expected and my wife is very happy with it too (so it must be good!). It has also cost considerably less than connecting to the grid in our situation. Murray was very easy to deal with, completely open and up-front with all specifications of the system and happy to modify anything that I requested. He did not pretend to know everything, but whenever asked a question he could not answer he would find it out and get back to me very quickly.
Murray started installing my system on Tuesday 22 February 2011, and was part-way through when the devastating Lyttelton earthquake struck that lunchtime. Despite having no power, water or sewerage at his own home in a badly damaged area of Christchurch, he continued to work on this job for most of the afternoon, and returned on Thursday and Friday to finish it off. This dedication was greatly appreciated as we were needing to move into this home a week later. As I type we are in our home and still have no hot water, but the system Murray installed is even giving enough power to boil the jug occasionally to wash dishes with – it wasn’t designed for this use, but it’s coping very well with whatever we need it to do. Before moving in I even steam cleaned the carpets (boiling an electric jug for hot water and using a hired carpet cleaner), all from solar electricity!
